Andrew Farkas is Chief Executive Officer of C-III Capital Partners. Mr. Farkas also serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Island Capital Group, a leading real estate merchant bank that is the controlling parent of C-III Capital Partners. Island Capital Group’s portfolio companies presently own and/or manage approximately $150 billion in assets. Other affiliated companies of Island Capital Group include Anubis Advisors and Island Global Yachting.
Anubis Advisors provides strategic planning, executive management, restructuring, M&A and other financial services to Island Capital Group’s portfolio companies, including C-III Capital Partners.
Island Capital Group was founded by Andrew Farkas in 2003, following the merger of Insignia Financial Group, Inc. (NYSE: IFS), with CB Richard Ellis. Prior to his founding of Island Capital, C-III and Anubis, Mr. Farkas was the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Insignia Financial Group, a global real estate services company. Farkas founded Insignia in 1990 and in just eight years the company became the largest owner and operator of multifamily real estate in the United States. It was also among the largest owners and operators of commercial space in the U.S. By 2003, Insignia was among the top three leading commercial real estate services firms in the world with a dominant presence in the U.S., the UK, Europe, Asia and South America. The Insignia merger with CB Richard Ellis in July 2003 created the world’s largest commercial real estate services company in the world.
Andrew Farkas received a B.A. degree from Harvard University, where he majored in economics. He is involved in The Fresh Air Fund, NARAL, the ASPCA, AMFAR, The Doe Fund and various other health, education and welfare oriented charities
